The standard position
The official spot for almost every European toll badge is behind the rear-view mirror, along the top edge of the windscreen, as close to the mirror mount as possible. There the badge sits firmly, doesn't block your view, and the gate antenna has a clear line above.
- Clean the glass with alcohol or glass cleaner and let it dry fully.
- Fit the badge at a glass temperature of 15–25 °C - not in full sun.
- Press for 30 seconds and leave unused for 24 hours so it bonds.
- Make sure the front (logo) faces outwards, towards the toll gate.
Heat-reflecting or athermic glass
Cars with heat-reflecting (athermic, metallic-coated) windscreens usually have a cut-out area: a small rectangle without coating, typically marked with a symbol behind the mirror or at the bottom of the glass. Fit the badge exactly inside that patch - otherwise the coating blocks the radio signal and the toll gate cannot see you.

By vehicle type
Directly behind the rear-view mirror, against the top edge of the windscreen. If the mirror is large: slightly to the left or right of it, inside the area swept by the wipers.
On a large, upright windscreen, fit the badge in the upper centre. Avoid tinted bands along the top edge - they often contain a UV filter that dampens the signal.
Rules per provider
Fulli specifies: behind the rear-view mirror, against the top edge, logo facing out. On athermic glass, only inside the cut-out. A hook-and-loop pad is included - never lay the badge loose on the dashboard, it won't be scanned.
Telepass advises placement centrally at the top of the windscreen, behind the mirror. In Italy you drive through the blue "Telepass" lane without stopping; the badge must hang horizontally and be fully visible.
Same rule: behind the mirror, logo facing out. Bip&Go supplies a pouch with a hook-and-loop pad; when you switch cars, you only need to restick the pad half.
Common mistakes
- Badge loose on the dashboard: metal in the dashboard blocks the signal.
- On the tinted band at the top of the windscreen: the coating dampens radio waves.
- Stuck below the mirror: too low - toll gate antennas sit above.
- On a repaired star or stone chip: the adhesive lets go after a week.
